OM Maritime is talking to shipyards about an order for neo-panamax containerships as the tonnage provider also considers diversification into tankers.

The Singapore-based company is finalising an order with Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry in China for 7,100-teu containerships, according to brokers.

Company director Subhangshu Dutt confirmed that the company has been in discussions with shipyards.

But he played down talk of any imminent order at a time when shipbuilding prices are high.
