Container freight rates in the transpacific have surged, but remain beneath their mid-September peak.

Spot rates from China to the US West Coast (USWC) rose 20% on Thursday — or $3,333 — to $19,478 per 40-foot equivalent unit (feu), according to the Freightos Baltic Index.

That helped lift rates from Asia to the US East Coast (USEC) by 8%, or $1,660, to $21,111 per feu.
