Denmark has been an active combatant in the fight against piracy in West Africa in recent years, but the problem came a bit closer to home this week in a strange incident at Esbjerg harbour.
A drunken 58-year-old local reportedly attempted to “hijack” a ferry in a bid to get to Fano, Danish media said.
The frustrated would-be passenger called police shortly before 0400 hours (0500 GMT) on Monday when he decided he just had to get to the North Sea island.
