Maersk company Svitzer is increasing its presence in Brazil with plans to bring 10 new tugs to ports in the country's southern and southeastern regions by early next year.

The subsidiary said it has begun operating the first two of four tugs from Fortaleza's Inace shipyard in Latin America's largest port, Santos.

By early 2018, the firm expects to run another two tugs in the Port of Rio Grande as part of a scheme to have 10 vessels in service by that time.
