ABN AMRO has charged Francis Birkeland with heading its assault on the US finance scene.

Birkeland has been handed a newly created role as the head of the bank’s shipping and offshore activity in the US, it was announced today.

The 12-year ABN AMRO veteran will relocate to New York having led the bank’s Scandinavian energy and transport division since 2006.
