ABN AMRO has charged Francis Birkeland with heading its assault on the US finance scene.
Birkeland has been handed a newly created role as the head of the bank’s shipping and offshore activity in the US, it was announced today.
The 12-year ABN AMRO veteran will relocate to New York having led the bank’s Scandinavian energy and transport division since 2006.
Gust Biesbroeck, global head of Transportation at ABN AMRO, said in a statement: “A local presence in the shipping and offshore energy markets in North America is of great importance within our global ECT network, both commercially and from a global risk management point of view.
