Up to 60% of all newbuildings ordered in 2030 will be dual-fuel ships, and a portion of them will use methanol, according to engine designer MAN Energy Solutions.
MAN's head of two-stroke promotion and customer support, Thomas Hansen, said that dual-fuel vessels accounted for 20% of the orderbook at the end of April.
The figure to April is double the number seen in 2020 and expected to rise to 25% later this year, Hansen added during a webinar on methanol.
