Growing exports of US LNG have not come at the expense of cargoes originating from Australia, but from increased demand from China.
China grew its LNG imports in May by a whopping 40% compared to last year and might very well surpass Japan as the biggest LNG importer later in 2021.
Between January and May this year, global LNG exports with China as their final destination increased by 23.1%
