A multinational flotilla of 17 ships and an air force helicopter managed to contain a blaze on a VLCC in the Indian Ocean.

The news came after three days of battle with the flames on the 300,000-dwt New Diamond (built 2000).

“The continuous cooling effect during the disaster relief operation has controlled the fire-spread and approaching of the flames to the crude oil store of [the] New Diamond,” the Sri Lanka Navy said.
