A Florida woman is suing a Norwegian Cruise Line subsidiary after her father developed flu-like symptoms aboard one of its ships in February before dying.

Carlos Detoro was aboard Oceania Cruises' 1,250-berth Marina (built 2011) for a cruise from Argentina to Peru when he developed "weakness, sore throat, fever, chills, cough, and shortness of breath," the complaint, filed in Miami federal court last week by Moncia Del Pino, read.

Over a two-day period, his condition deteriorated as the ships' medical staff allegedly provided paltry care as Detoro awaited a port call in the Falkland Islands for medical attention.
