Bouchard Transportation's biggest lender is questioning whether the US company will make it through its bankruptcy proceedings.

Wells Fargo has asked US Bankruptcy Judge David Jones to hold off on finalising the tug and barge operator's $60m debtor in possession plan, arguing it has already failed to abide by orders directing it to pay back $1.8m to the bank.

"Less than two months into these Chapter 11 cases, the debtors have already wilfully ignored the terms of an order of this court," attorneys for Wells Fargo wrote in court papers filed on 13 November.
