Total to kick off $300 million drilling campaign

French outfit Total is planning a $300 million, three-well exploration campaign off northwest Australia which could help underpin an LNG project.

The company said it hopes to drill the wells in its Browse Basin blocks by early 2013.

Any gas discovered could feed the Ichthys LNG project which Total is partnering on with Inpex, or supply a floating LNG plant, Total Exploration & Production Australia managing director Mike Sangster told Bloomberg.
