Cara has cancelled one of its capesize bulkers on order at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) and, in exchange, has signed up for two 115,000-dwt products tankers, according to market sources.
Officials at Cara were not available for comment.
TradeWinds understands that Cara is left with one 180,000-dwt capesize still under construction at the Chinese yard. It signed up for the two units in 2013 at a price of $47m apiece and was slated to take delivery of them next year.
