Swedish authorities moved a burning NSC Holding bulk carrier into the Port of Gothenburg on Saturday after attempts to fight the fire at sea failed.

The new approach to tackling the blaze on the the 31,800-dwt handysize Almirante Storni (built 2012) includes unloading the vessel's timber cargo simultaneously to ongoing efforts to extinguish the fire.

Authorities said that removing the vessel's cargo would give to better access to fire-hit areas.
