South Korea’s shipbuilding industry will receive KRW 140bn ($97.2m) in state funding for research and development into new technologies to help it stay ahead of rivals.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy wants to widen the technology gap between domestic shipyards and competitors in neighbouring countries.
South Korea wants its shipbuilders to maintain their top position globally and increase market share from 64% to 75% by 2030.
