Japan’s Santoku Senpaku has jumped into the red-hot car-carrier market with an order for a series of LNG dual-fuel pure car/truck carrier (PCTC) newbuildings worth $510m.

The Osaka-based tonnage provider has signed up for six 7,500-ceu vessels with Fujian Shipbuilding to be delivered in 2026.

The company is said to be paying about $86m each for the ships.
