French offshore shipping giant Bourbon has suffered a weaker third quarter as revenue fell.

The company, owned by Jacques de Chateauvieux, did not reveal a profit figure, but said fleet utilisation was down to 53.4% from 59.7% year-on-year.

Average daily rates dropped to $8,668 from $9,494 and revenue was lower at $204.3m from $259.1m in 2016.

The company was still hit by sluggish activity and strong pressure on rates, despite a few positive signs, it said.
