Oslo-listed ADS Crude Carriers has completed its first VLCC scrubber retrofit in China.

The company said the 299,000-dwt ADS Serenade (built 2002) has also been through a scheduled intermediate survey and has started a spot charter voyage.

It is heading through the Middle East Gulf for loading. The crude will be carried to eastern China.

"In line with the company’s strategy to comply with IMO 2020 regulations and be well positioned to take advantage of potential economic benefits offered by exhaust emissions cleaning technology, the company’s fleet of three VLCCs will be upgraded with scrubber systems during scheduled mandatory intermediate surveys," ADS said.
