Norwegian shipowner PGS will bank $100m from the sale of a survey ship into Japan.
It won a tender in November to offload the 102-loa Ramform Sterling (built 2009) to Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), an administrative agency of the ministry of economy, trade and industry.
Negotiations then started over a final deal.
The owner has now signed a definitive contract, it said on Tuesday.
