Korea's Sungdong Shipbuilding is sending 1,500 staff home on unpaid leave in the first part of this year.

The yard is trying to adjust its capacity to the global order slump.

About 320 workers in Tongyoung will start a one-month 'holiday' in March, a spokesman told the Yonhap news agency.

The rest will take turns until August, but it has not yet been decided if the policy will be continued beyond then.
