Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding is bucking the trend of slashing capacity in response to the depressed shipbuilding market.

Last year, the Japanese-owned shipyard lengthened one of its slipways that allows the company to construct vessels up to 100,000 dwt.

Tsuneishi Zhoushan president Jiro Sato says his company has taken advantage of the lull in shipbuilding activity to extend the No 1 slipway by 30 metres to 240 metres.
