Euronav’s double suezmax order against a seven-year deal with Valero has received positive reviews from analysts at a time when the tanker market is showing signs of a seasonal upturn.

New York-listed Euronav announced the contract at Hyundai Heavy Industries yesterday after months of speculation around the business.

Bjorn Kristian Roed, an analyst at Danske Bank, suggested the ice-class ships were priced at around $60m each, with the charter rate pegged at around $35,000 per day.
