There’s a new giant in the making in the transport of petroleum and chemical cargoes in the US Jones Act cabotage trade.

Joint venture Fairwater Holdings was announced on Wednesday by Florida shipping conglomerates Crowley and Seacor Holdings, through its Seabulk Tankers subsidiary.

The 50-50 alliance will bring 20 articulated tug barges (ATBs) and 11 tankers, many fixed on long-term charters, under the Fairwater banner with Seabulk Tankers CEO Daniel Thorogood assuming the same title in the combined operation.
