Values for tankers in their third decade of life have skyrocketed this year ahead of the European Union’s Russian oil embargo, according to VesselsValue.

The UK valuation service said on Tuesday that prices for VLCCs aged 20 years or more have increased 51% since January to nearly $39m and aframaxes of the same age profile have jumped roughly 86% to $22m.
