A $60-per-barrel Russian crude oil price cap came into force on Monday along with a European Union seaborne import ban, in a package of measures that will have a profound effect on the tanker trade.

Russia confirmed that it would refuse to sell its crude to any country involved with the cap, while Ukraine condemned the cap for being set too high to have an impact.
