Iran has warned the IMO of unsafe routes in the Red Sea after claiming two incidents involving NITC tankers previously reported as technical faults were in fact missile attacks.

One attack was previously known, the case of the 160,000-dwt suezmax Sabiti (built 1999), which Iran said had been hit by two missiles off Saudi Arabia on 11 October.

Now it has written to the IMO to say the 317,000-dwt Helm (built 2008) and 299,000-dwt Happiness 1 (built 2003) were similarly targeted in August and April, Dow Jones reported.
