Mjolner Shipping has reportedly been active in the period-charter market for crude tankers, having taken two vessels for six months to a year.

European brokers said the company has fixed the 160,000-dwt 17 February (built 2008) for a year from Libyan owner General National Maritime Transport Co (GNMTC).

It chartered the vessel at $14,750 per day, which is lower than Oslo-based Fearnleys’ assessment of the prevailing one-year rate for a suezmax tanker at $17,250 per day.
