A “two-speed” newbuilding market presents very different fleet growth pictures for owners, according to Clarksons Research.
Researcher Sarah Holden calculates that by late July, the global orderbook stood at 236m dwt, equivalent to a modest 10% of existing fleet capacity.
“However, there remain a range of interesting dynamics within the overall trend — notably significant variation across sectors,” she said.
