Monarch is a hedge fund with offices in New York and London. It was founded in 2002 by Michael Weinstock, formerly of Lazard Freres & Co, and has put about $5bn of net assets under management. It had a public-equity portfolio exceeding $415m at last report.
Monarch’s stake in Scorpio appears to be one of its largest equity positions, even after the recent plunge in share price.
