Electronic data show that Excelerate Energy’s 150,900-cbm FSRU Explorer (built 2008) arrived back at the Dubai Supply Authority (Dusup)-controlled facility this week after undergoing work at nearby Drydocks World yard in Dubai.

The job undertaken on Explorer included the addition of cargo-offloading gear which has been housed on the vessel’s stern. The intention is to use this in conjunction with newly installed jetty-based kit to allow Dusup to offer LNG bunkering services at its terminal.

Under one proposed operation Dusup is said to be preparing to ship small parcels of LNG from Explorer into a barge fitted with ISO containers, which could be used to bunker Drydocks World’s LNG-fuelled harbour tug Elemarateyah which is due for delivery this year.
