The global slump may have helped to increase employee fraud at Danish shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk.



The company has reported a rise in swindles at work to 178 in 2009 from 124 in 2008.



The growth in employee numbers may also have added to the figure.



Maersk's internal audit department added that it has introduced sharper control systems, which have probably increased detection, the Jyllands-Posten newspaper reported.
