An overseas container line has reportedly asked India’s government to relax its coastal shipping laws to allow it to relieve congestion at the JNPT port.
A domestic report said the unnamed owner wants to unload boxes at the ICCT facility at Vallarpadam in Kochi through a temporary relaxation of cabotage restrictions.
Cargo could then be transhipped by the next vessel to JNPT.
