Capesize spot rates have remained higher in the Pacific basin but that should change as ships ballast to the Atlantic on expected high iron-ore volumes from Brazil.
Round-trip rates for Atlantic capesizes have recently averaged about $4,000 per day on a time-charter equivalent basis, compared with $11,000 per day in the Pacific, according to estimates from exchange trade fund Breakwave Advisors.
