Greek shipowner George Economou is said to have added six bulk carrier newbuildings for his growing fleet.
Shipbuilding sources said Economou’s TMS Dry has struck one deal with China State Shipbuilding Corp’s Chengxi Shipyard for two kamsarmaxes, and a second with Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering for four ultramaxes.
An official at Chengxi confirmed the deal, saying it was the first time that the yard would work with a Greek company.
