An Alexandria Shipping-controlled bulk carrier has safely made it to the port of Piraeus after dramatically losing control of its rudder in heavy weather off the coast of Greece.

The 32,000-dwt Aeolos (built 2001) is at anchor off Piraeus and is scheduled to go into dry dock for repairs.

The ship was fully laden with a crew of 23 onboard when mechanical failure of the rudder immobilised the vessel north-east of Cape Maleas on 6 January.
