CMA CGM will co-invest up to €150m ($156m) in a second-generation renewable gas project, named Salamander, to help diversify its fuel sources.

It is building on a partnership with French renewable energy provider Engie, with the aim of producing biomethane on an industrial scale.

The two companies have drawn up a blueprint for a site in the port of Le Havre in northern France capable of producing up to 200,000 tonnes of renewable gas annually by 2028.
