AP Moller-Maersk said it has decided to “temporarily cease” short-term bookings due to the backlog created by the six-day blockage of the Suez Canal.

The Danish container giant said the restrictions would apply to its Maersk Spot online booking system as well as short-term contracts “this week and in the immediate future”.

“We have earlier communicated that even when reopened, the blockage of the Suez Canal would have ripple effects on global supply chains for weeks to come,” Maersk said in an advisory to customers.
