Bangkok-listed liner operator Regional Container Lines (RCL) is dispatching two of its oldest containerships to subcontinental shipbreakers.
Sold are the 1,094-teu sisterships Ganta Bhum and Hunsa Bhum (both built 1995).
The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-constructed pair have been part of the RCL fleet their entire careers.
Shiprecycling sources said they were sold for $390 per ldt, which equates to around $2.4m
