Singapore’s Sea Consortium (Seacon) has taken its spending on modern boxships to more than $100m this year, buying a fourth vessel from German owner Hammonia Reederei.

Seacon purchased the 4,957-teu Hammonia Istria (built 2013) for a reported price of around $28m, ­according to brokers.

The Jiangsu Yangzijiang-built vessel is the fourth wide-beam ­design acquired by Seacon, the shipowning division of Asian ­feeder operator X-Press Feeders.
