Travel restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic could delay start-up of fully electric ferry routes operated by Fjord1 in Norway, which the ferry company said would have a significant financial impact.

Technical personnel from Germany and Italy are currently prevented from visiting Norway to work on electrification infrastructure for the ferries, the Oslo-listed operator warned on Wednesday.

If Fjord1's electric ferries are not able to begin operating on time, then the company could miss out on grants from the Norwegian government and public infrastructure payments.
