Mexico has changed its tack on salvaging a broken bulker at Punta Graham.
The 72,000-dwt Los Llanitos (built 1993) grounded on rocks in October during Hurricane Patricia, cracking its hull, with the initial plan being to refloat, tow and then scuttle it nearby.
Now the government has said it will be dismantled where it is now, according to local reports.
A salvage report had presented four options for the ship, which also included repairing the vessel or leaving it to decay.
