The decision by District Judge Edgardo Ramos, of the US federal court in New York, grants a request by the US Justice Department to dismiss the Greek showner’s claims against United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI).
“The court finds that the Government has properly invoked the state secrets privilege in this action,” the jurist wrote in an 18-page opinion.
Restis and his Enterprises Shipping & Trading sued UANI in 2013 alleging that the organisation committed defamation when it targeted him with a “name and shame” campaign accusing him of doing business with Iran.
