It told the Taipei stock exchange that it had earmarked $22m for a 37,000-dwt vessel at Onomichi Dockyard.

Delivery should be in 2017. The deal is listed as the yard’s first since last September.

The shipowner already has a large orderbook, consisting of 29 bulkers at yards including Namura and Imabari in Japan.

The company’s fleet numbers 126 vessels including orders.
