New York-listed shipping stocks slipped with the Dow today on President Trump's plans to bar Chinese investment in US tech and hit Europe with a 20% tariff on auto imports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average's 172-point fall to 24,291 was also driven by OPEC's announcement to increase oil production by 1 million barrels per day, an analyst says.

All in all, 29 out of 34 New York-listed shipping stocks took a downward turn as the Dow fell to a low of 24,098 by late afternoon before rallying to its closing mark.
