Japan’s MOL is in line to snare time-charter business that will back an LNG newbuilding as the company grows its gas fleet.

Industry sources say the shipowner is expected to cement a deal with German trader Uniper Global Commodities before the end of this year on an LNG carrier that will be ordered at DSME in South Korea.

If confirmed, this would be the second LNG vessel time charter agreed between the two companies, and it will add to the big haul of LNG carrier newbuildings secured by South Korean yards this year.
