Golar LNG and partner Schlumberger are believed to be targeting the Kosmos Energy as their next customer in their floating LNG (FLNG) production business, a US analyst said.
Wells Fargo Securities analyst Michael Webber flagged up the potential prospect for Golar's FLNG ambitions after Kosmos announced a new significant gas discovery off Mauritania and Senegal today.
The discovery bolsters Kosmo's plans to develop its offshore finds with two FLNG export units in a project that could be expanded by two more units.
Webber said that based on his discussions with Kosmos, he believes Golar and Schlumberger are vying to score the project, although there are other suitors as well.
