Danish shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk has signed a cooperation agreement with Swiss energy company Proman to develop green methanol supply for the shipowner’s raft of methanol-fuelled container ship newbuildings.

The new partners said Proman — the world’s second-largest methanol producer — will aim to supply Maersk with 100,000 to 150,000 tonnes per year (tpa) of green methanol from its new 200,000-tpa facility, which is under development in North America.
