The captain of a Russian-flagged tanker has been charged in Greece for violating European Union sanctions against war-torn Syria.

A Greek prosecutor has accused the unidentified master of the 6,600-dwt small clean produts tanker Yaz (built 2014) of breaching the EU’s restrictive measures against Syria, the coastguard said.

TradeWinds understands, however, that neither the ship nor his captain have been arrested.

Vessel tracking data show the Yaz currently underway in the Saronic Gulf, near the Corinth channel, heading for the port of Aliaga, Turkey.
