Evergreen Marine Corp has confirmed that it plans to take over 20 containership newbuildings of 11,000 teu.
The $1.8bn deal, which was first reported in TradeWinds today, will see the Taiwanese liner giant charter 12 vessels of this size and place an order for eight ships of the same size.
Two of Evergreen’s subsidiaries, Greencompass Marine and Evergreen Marine (Hong Kong), will each charter six vessels and order four.
