Aristides Pittas is hopeful one of his two New York-listed companies will be involved in consolidation this year despite the cooling of merger talks between Euroseas and George Youroukos-led Poseidon.

Pittas has spun-off the Euroseas bulker fleet into new vehicle EuroDry and he believes the fresh structure will assist the merger and acquisition efforts of both companies.

Euroses and Poseidon first revealed a plan to link up with a public containership vehicle last year, but those discussions have “now stalled a little bit”, Pittas told TradeWinds.
