Interest in the development of new LNG tank containment systems has been burgeoning over the past few years.

Wavespec’s Geoff Green pointed out that this corresponds to LNG’s greater acceptance as a fuel, which in turn has led to a divergence in ship sizes and types to fulfil project needs. To date, GTT’s membrane-type tanks have been by far the most popular accounting for around 70% of the existing LNG fleet and 94% of the newbuildings on order.

Membrane systems have been selected for both LNG floating production, storage and offloading units and all the floating storage and regasification units currently under construction.
